Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more,
For the world has always deceived.
Every desire crushed,
every dream suppressed
And shackles passed down as our legacy.

Then sigh not so, but embolden now
So we could come together,
And turn all our sounds of woe
Into an allied cry of protest.

Sing no more to be complicit
With a system that sees you as an idea.
The cracks and scars matter no more,
Since you were always meant to soar.
Then sigh not so, but fight once more,
And show this world
what it's like to be a woman.

Ladies, the time has come to stand for self
And for those whom you suppressed.
So, turn your white voices
Into a diverse cry of protest.
